Renovation of existing industrial space previously associated with Alstom Power. Micronics is a manufacturer of filter media, and the facility is comprised of over 72,000 sq ft of office, manufacturing, and high-piled storage. AEED, Inc. provided the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection modifications needed for the renovation. The fire protection was particularly challenging due to the high ceiling in the storage area that is outside the prescribed protection methods of NFPA. AEED, Inc. worked closely with the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and consulted supplemental standards to achieve a protection criteria for the fire sprinkler system. The modifications required the addition of a fire pump, but due to long lead times in the industry during the implementation, the fire pump would not be ready for installation at project substantial completion. AEED, Inc. worked again with the AHJ and the pump manufacturer and was able to arrange the delivery of a temporary fire pump to allow the tenant to occupy the space until the final pump could be delivered and installed.
